Background Tasks Members Conclusions of Consultative Panel's meetings
Background In order to fulfil the transparency requirements of the "Lamfalussy Process", CEIOPS is required to consult extensively and in an open and transparent manner with providers of insurance and occupational pensions funds products, market participants, consumers and end-users. Part of the response of the Committee to these requirements was to establish in 2003 a consultative panel of experts from the industry, end-users and consumers. Tasks In accordance with its Charter, the Consultative Panel meets at least three times a year with CEIOPS' representatives. It provides suggestions for the work programme, presents comments on the interim results of the work being undertaken and makes proposals to amend existing practices. In other words, the role of the Panel is to monitor the way in which CEIOPS exercises its role and to act as a "sounding" board to support CEIOPS' policy-making process.
Members To ensure productive input, the Panel is composed of a limited number of independent high level persons, committed to the objectives of the European Union. The Panel members are appointed on a personal basis and do not represent national positions or sectoral interests. Ad hoc task forces may be established for specific issues. The current panel is chaired by Gérard de la Martinière (Fr). Its members and their respective proxies are, in alphabetical order:
