The Committee of European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Supervisors (CEIOPS) is the Level 3 Committee for the insurance and occupational pensions sectors under the so called "Lamfalussy Process". CEIOPS is composed of high level representatives from the insurance and occupational pensions supervisory authorities of the European Union Member States. The authorities of the other Member States of the European Economic Area and the European Commission participate in CEIOPS' activities as observers. CEIOPS is at the heart of insurance and occupational pension supervision for the European Union, and its increasing convergence with the EU banking and securities sectors. CEIOPS’ Secretariat is the Committee’s operational core. It provides the organisation and procedures enabling CEIOPS Members to achieve the Committees’ objectives. It runs and monitors CEIOPS’ tasks. It supports CEIOPS’ Managing Board and Members in their many relationships and work streams. It is also CEIOPS’ public face, responsible for external relations. The Secretariat is a close-knit friendly office of international staff, which enjoys the good lifestyle of Frankfurt and is located in prestigious premises where the position is based. Under the proposed European Financial Supervisory reforms, CEIOPS is due to become the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) in the course of 2011. The successful candidate will join CEIOPS at an important and very interesting time of transition to EIOPA. Further information on CEIOPS and its Secretariat is available on CEIOPS’ website (www.ceiops.eu) and in its Annual Report 2009 and Work Programme 2010 ..
